Nilca Billow

Nilca is a Latina born and raised in Panama City, Panama. Mrs. Billow came to the US in the fall of 1975 at the age of 21 with her US Army husband and six week old baby boy. Today, she has three sons, nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. 

Mrs. Billow has studied at multiple universities, earning a bachelor’s degrees in Secondary Education and Foreign Language. She earned her master’s degree in Education from Cambridge College in 2005. She was on active duty in the US Army from 1987 to 1993, then continued her service to our country by working as a language instructor for the US Military in settings such as the De la Torre World Wide Language School and Department of Defense personnel training. In 2010 she moved to Chattanooga where she became a Spanish teacher for Ivy Academy Chattanooga. She was in the top three finalists for Tennessee's Charter School Teacher of the Year in 2012. She finished her career in teaching with Hamilton County and retired in 2019.
